Managing Business Expansion
Our Chief Operating Officer reflects back on Fore’s move to the iconic Templeton Building in the East End of Glasgow. It’s been one of his proudest and most challenging moments here at Fore. Find out what managing a move is really like, from a COO's logistical perspective.
Fore started out in a small office space based in the city centre of Glasgow. We initially had one room that was big enough for us to house about 5-7 staff maximum!
There was no choice, we had to expand. We made the choice to take over three rooms across the whole floor in this building. We continued to grow and expand to a point where we basically ran out of any available space left in the building.
The hunt for a new office began. It was a year-long labour of love to find a suitable office, that had something a little different to offer and the right vibe that would fit Fore.
How did you find the move from an operational overview?
The good thing about running a company like Fore is that most of the hardware we had in the old office were things like laptops or iMacs that are fairly easy to transfer. We left all of the old furniture behind as well - so it was just a case of packing up all of our personal belongings on a Friday afternoon and turning up at the new office come Monday. Most of the planning, logistics and worries around moving were in making sure the new space was ready for us.
The new office fit-out took 3 months to complete, working with the very talented Space Solutions to turn a blank canvas into a highly functioning and cool office space - thanks guys!
Tell us about the Studio space?
Our new office is 6,500 square feet. Being in our new space has allowed us to expand some of our services. For example, we now have a dedicated film studio for the team to use for any clients as well as allowing us to do some photography when required. We have also installed our own recording studio where we are already running our own podcasts as well as shows like Football Daft with Ewan and Grado.
How is Fore reflected in the four walls?
Taking over a full floor in the Templeton Building meant that we had an open space to play with - a completely blank canvas. We worked with Space Solutions to plan the office look and layout and we couldn't be happier with the end result. We also worked with Ciaran Glöbel to add a splash of colour onto a few of the walls and put Fore's Think Louder stamp on the office.
What attracted you the space at the Templeton building?
What is not to love about the Templeton?! It's such an iconic building in Glasgow and we have been made to feel so welcome. We get loads of compliments on the office and it's unique and standout brickwork and window features. Being located next to Glasgow Green is a massive bonus as well.
What does the East End of Glasgow have to offer?
The East End of Glasgow is an up and coming Tech Hub at the minute. There are loads of companies moving to this side of the city and it has a great community feel to it now.
What’s next for Fore?
Fore will continue to grow! We are already looking to expand to other locations and grow our team even further... watch this space!
